Loches,Saumur and Angers were done and dusted,Next day i resumed my quest of visiting more chateau’s.I arrived in Vitre and the castle looked very beautiful from the outside. And the cobble stone streets leading to the entrance of the castle is no less than a fairy tale.
From the town to the castle, everything looked so immersed in history. And after a quick visit to the castle and i can certify that it is an ideal example of a medieval castle 🙂
Last one on the list was Fougeres castle. While the walls remain intact, rest of the castle is in ruins and that is the best thing which i liked about it.Unlike most of the castle’s which i visited had been restored and looked bit artificial to me. There are some multimedia exhibits in some of the intact structures, didn’t really care for them myself. The ramparts are largely intact, replete with crenelations and machinations and arrow slits, and make for a really nice walk. Takes some time to wander through the whole thing, maybe a couple hours or so.
